AMVCA patrons told to self-isolate after celeb tests positive for coronavirus

Attendees of this year’s Africa Movie Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) are to self-isolate to check for possible cases of Coronavirus.

10 days after the event held in Nigeria, patrons have been instructed to self-isolate after news emerged that a celebrity had contracted the virus before attending the event.

The 7th edition of the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) came off on March 14 at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi has instructed participants of the award show to self-isolate because they may have been exposed to the deadly virus.

In a tweet, he confirmed that one of the celebrities who attended the event has tested positive for coronavirus.

“#COVID19 Lagos Alert🔊! I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on14th March at @EkoHotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection,” he wrote.

The Commissioner for Health advised patrons to be calm while they adhere to the government’s directives during their quarantine.

Meanwhile, media personality IK Osakioduwa has rejected claim that he is the celebrity who tested positive for Coronavirus.

IK Osakioduwa’s name popped up after Nigerian journalist Kemi Olulunyo alleged that “a big Nigerian celebrity who has tested positive” for the virus had attended the just ended AMVCA 2020.
