Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie’s ‘Americanah’ recommended as one of ‘the best loves stories in literature’

In the world of books, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s name carries so much weight.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Chimamanda’s book “Americanah” was selected as one of “the best love stories” to gift a loved one.

Fitzgerald, BuzzFeed Books founding editor, recently appeared on Today TV alongside author Jasmine Guillory and nominated the work of art while selecting his four picks of literature that pass as valentine presents to ‘bookworms’.

In her book, “Adichie explores love in all its contradictions, showing us how it can feel special and enduring, even eternal, while also undergoing huge transformations depending on what’s happening in the world and where and who we are in it,” says Isaac Fitzgerald of this contemporary classic as he recommended Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book, Americanah as one of “the best love stories in literature”.

Americanah, is a powerful, tender story of race and identity:

Ifemelu and Obinze are young and in love when they depart military-ruled Nigeria for the West. Beautiful, self-assured Ifemelu heads for America, where despite her academic success, she is forced to grapple with what it means to be black for the first time.

The 2013 novel by the Nigerian author for which Adichie won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Fiction award is licensed for publication in 29 countries.

It was Adichie’s third novel, published on May 14, 2013 by Alfred A. Knopf. A television miniseries, starring and produced by Lupita Nyong’o, is currently in development.
