Tiwa Savage, D’Banj, Wizkid, Femi Kuti shine at Global Citizen Festival

Nigerian stars Femi Kuti, D’Banj, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage were in their element during the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa over the weekend as they treated thousands to epic performances.

The event which was part of activities to mark Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday anniversary saw the aforementioned and other artistes from around the world such as Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, and Usher mount the stage to entertain audience who had earned their places through charity work and petition-signing.

The motive for the festival is to raise $1 billion for causes such as “ending hunger and increasing access to good nutrition, ending neglected tropical diseases, reducing HIV transmission rates, ensuring every child receives a quality education, reforming and repealing sexist laws, providing funding for women's health and family planning, and ensuring access to clean water and safe sanitation worldwide.”
