Media personality Toke Makinwa has said she is self-isolating after a patron at the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) 2020 was confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus.
The Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMOH) in a statement Tuesday confirmed the case saying: “participants may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection.”
This comes five days after Nigerian journalist Kemi Olulunyo alleged that “a big Nigerian celebrity” with the virus was at the event, which happened on March 14, and also a club in Victoria Island.
Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi instructed participants of the award show to self-isolate because they may have been exposed to the deadly virus.
Toke Makinwa in a social media post said: “My team members and I have been hydrating and staying healthy, exercising, washing our hands and monitoring ourselves.”
”I hope you and yours are keeping safe, thank you l for your messages and prayers, I worked at the #AMVCA, I have been off air and self isolating, making TikTok videos to entertain you, not sharing unverified information and just trying to keep my mind active.
“My team members and I have been hydrating and staying healthy, exercising, washing our hands and monitoring ourselves. #Thistooshallpass #staysafeoutthere” she wrote.
