‘Twice As Tall’ going for album of the year – Executive producer Diddy tells Burna Boy

Burna Boy has dropped off his fifth studio album, Twice As Tall, and already it’s aimed at becoming the album of the year.

It was mostly recorded in Lagos during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive produced by music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, the project was released early Friday, August 14, 2020.

Diddy, in a video call interaction with Burna Boy, bluntly told the Nigerian that the target for the project should go above the African categories at international awards shows.

“Let’s blow this motherf***ker out of the water. You know, you’re going for album of the year. You feel me? Not going for no African…,” he said.

Coming shortly after his fourth studio album, African Giant, the latest project includes production from Timbaland, Mike Dean and more.

‘Twice As Tall’ touches on the realities of Burna Boy’s life and tackles miseducation, global systemic racism, police brutality, corruption and social injustice.

The project features Senegalese artist Youssou N’Dour, O.G. trio Naughty By Nature, Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and U.K. rapper Stormzy.
