Ambode congratulates Sanwo-Olu on governorship election victory

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated Babajide Sanwo-Olu, following his victory in the Governorship and State Assembly elections held on Saturday, March 9.

Sanwo-Olu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, was declared the winner after claiming all the local government areas.

After the much-awaited results were announced, Ambode wished the Governor-Elect a successful term in office on Twitter.

“Hearty congratulations to the Lagos State Governor-Elect, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat,” he tweeted.

“This is a victory for continuity in governance, victory for the APC and victory for all Lagosians. I wish them a successful term in office.”

Sanwoolu, who polled 739,445 out of the 977,476 total valid votes, defeated his closest rival of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje and 43 other candidates to emerge as the winner and governor-elect in the state.

He won in Epe, Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Lagos Mainland Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Other local governments where the APC led are Agege, Apapa, Amuwo-Odofin, Oshodi-Isolo, Mushin, Kosofe, Somolu, Eti-Osa and Surulere.
