A human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has said he is not bothered over the lawsuit filed against him at the International Criminal Court (ICC) by a Nigerian lawyer who accused him of inciting EndSARS protesters.
According to The Cable, Falana in a statement said those behind the lawsuit are trying to divert attention from the attack on protesters at the Lekki Tollgate.
He stated that those responsible for the court action obviously think that the ICC is a forum for frivolities.
The senior lawyer dismissed the complaint at the ICC, which accused him of instigating the violent EndSARS protests that led to the destruction of properties.
Falana said he has easy and undisturbed passage to move around and questioned if those behind the lawsuit are able to do likewise.
He also accused the Nigerian Army of brutally attacking peaceful and unarmed EndSARS protesters especially at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.
Falana said: “It was because they have no respect for the Rule and the duly constituted courts that these elements have persisted in dabbling into politics and civil affairs as recently shown in their deployment of soldiers in full battle gear and war formation against peaceful protesters.
He said those responsible for the attack on peaceful protesters in Lekki are trying to sweep the matter under the carpet.
Meanwhile, some prominent Lagosians have called for the immediate scrapping of the Lekki tollgate in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos state. The prominent Lagosians including Chief Alaba Williams, Bashorun Jaiye Randle, Ade Dosunmu, and Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, say the move.
