A fashion blogger and entrepreneur Laura Ikeji has chastised government officials for failing to work towards making life better for the ordinary Nigerian.
She asserts that the state of affairs of the country lives much to be desired and for officials to seem unperturbed about the situation is appalling.
Expressing fury on Instagram, she said: “No money in circulation, depression everywhere, SARS killings every day, young men are afraid to go out because of invasion of the privacy; children are losing parents, parents children.
“No light, no good roads in 20fokkin19! Shame Nigeria. Our government officials should bury their heads in shame. God forbid! What a country!”
Her outburst comes few hours after actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde registered her displeasure to President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Oluyemi Oluleke ‘Yemi’ Osinbajo.
In a tweet, Omotola said without equivocation that Nigeria is “heelish” under Mr. Buhari’s watch.
She cited the incessant unjustified brutalities being meted out to innocent citizens as one of her basis, stressing that there is so much insecurity in the country.
Growing insecurity in Nigeria
For some time now, some citizens have been assaulted while others have been killed by state security officers.
On Saturday, April 13, news ran rife that some policemen had shot dead a 20-year-old lady at Ada Ifeanyi in Ajegunle.
The policemen also allegedly shot one Emmanuel Akomafuwa, 32, of No. 52, Babatunde St., Olodi Apapa, at Akpiri Street, Olodi Apapa.
Last month, a civilian Kolade Johnson who was watching a football match was shot and killed by some officials of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in an attempt to disperse a crowd.
The incident led to a complete pandemonium with several celebrities, including Banky W, Adesua Etomi and Falz expressing their displeasure about the display of high level of unprofessionalism by SARS.
In fact, Burna Boy in his reaction stated that Nigerians should rather fight SARS instead of unnecessary protests as he deemed the actions of state security officers in that regard ridiculous.
