Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday 29th May has been sworn in as the new governor of Lagos state.
His deputy Obafemi Hamzat was also sworn into office at the ceremony.
After swearing the oath, Sanwo-olu moved around the parade grounds in a motorcade to acknowledge the crowd.
It was noticed that the former governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode was missing in action.
The former governor explained through his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, the reason for missing the swearing in ceremony.
He stated that the day should be all about the new governor and hence his decision to miss the ceremony.
“I have already formally handed over reins of power in the state to the new governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday.
The formal inauguration should have Mr Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day.
I don’t think that glory should be shared with him by my presence” he said.
