‘Collapsed Nigeria school in Lagos was operating illegally’ – Governor Ambode says

At least 10 children are reported dead after a school collapsed in the Ilafaji area of the Lagos state on Wednesday.

Visiting the scene of the incident Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said the collapse building was operating illegally.

According to the governor, the three-storey building was only meant for residential purposes and not authorized to accommodate schools and shops.

“The building is not technically a school, it is a residential building that was actually accommodating an illegal school, so to speak, on the second floor,” he said.
