Nigerians blast Uzoho for ‘elementary mistake’ against Seychelles

Super Eagles goalie Francis Uzoho yesterday gave Nigerians and coach Gernot Rohr reasons to doubt his competence as the first choice goalie of the team.

Uzoho committed yet another howler that gave Seychelles a goal in their 3-1 defeat to Nigeria.

A free kick was floated into Nigeria’s goal area and Uzoho who attempted to punch missed the ball allowing Rody Melanie to slot home and bring the game on level terms after Odion Ighalo had given Nigeria the lead via a spot kick.

The clanger gave Seychelles hopes of winning the game but the Eagles added two more goals to end their AFCON qualifications on winning note.

The Eagles had already qualified before the game and will now take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday, March 26.

Following Uzoho’s poor performance against Seychelles, coach Rohr may opt for his second choice goalie to start against the 6-time AFCON winners.

Some Nigerians on Twitter have slammed Uzoho for committing what they described as “elementary mistake” in goalkeeping.
