Sack Dennerby if South Korea beat Falcons – Godfred Esu to NFF

The Super Falcons are on a mission to redeem their image when they face South Korea in the second round group games of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Both countries lost heavily in their first games and a defeat to either side will end their campaign in the World Cup. The Falcons lost 3-0 to France whiles South Korea’s goalie had to pick the ball from her post four times.

A win today and a draw against host country France will send Nigeria into the last 16 which is the minimum target set by the team.

Ahead of their penultimate group game, veteran Nigeria coach Godfred Esu is calling for the head of coach Thomas Dennerby should they fail to progress to the last 16.

Esu is clearly displeased with the idea of a foreign coach managing the team and feels that anything other than a victory today should mark the end of Dennerby’s stint with Nigeria

“The coach doesn’t have any excuse to give to Nigerians if the Super Falcons failed to beat Korea,” Esu told The Guardian yesterday. “And I must add that the NFF must be prepared to sack him immediately if the girls failed to win the match. It is clear to many Nigerians now that the NFF caused the problem in the first place by sacking coach Florence Omagbemi for a foreign coach. What changes has Dennerby brought into the team now? I pray they beat Korea,” Esu stated.

In the 2003 World Cup, the Falcons lost 3-0 to South Korea in a group and today’s encounter could be a revenge for Nigeria or a repeat for the Asian country.
